  2. OS/2 Installation Notes
  3.  
  4. OS/2  WARP  CONNECT  WITH  IBM  PEER  FOR  OS/2    
  5.  
  6.  
  7. NOTE: The following instructions assumes the following:
  8.  
  9.       1. The user has the CD-Version of OS/2 WARP
  10.       2. The user has not installed OS/2 WARP.
  11.       2. The user will run the Easy Installation setup.
  12.       3. The user will install OS/2 WARP on C drive
  13.       4. The user has a floppy drive designated as drive A.
  14.  
  15.  
  16.  1. Install OS/2 WARP Connect (refer to OS/2 WARP manual).
  17.  
  18.  2. When a  "Networking Support" box appears asking 
  19.     "Do you want to install networking support,"  
  20.     highlight YES and click on OK.
  21.  
  22.  3. Under the "IBM Peer for OS/2,"  highlight the line 
  23.     "Yes, install OS/2 Peer" and click on OK.
  24.  
  25.  4. Under the "Specify Workstation Name" box, enter the 
  26.     workstation name and description and click on OK.
  27.  
  28.  5. Under the "Domain name" box, enter the appropriate 
  29.     domain name for the network (default is IBMPEER) 
  30.     and click on OK.
  31.     
  32.  6. Under the "Novell Netware Client for OS/2" box, 
  33.     highlight "No, do not install" and click on OK.
  34.  
  35.  7. Under the "Internet" box, choose Yes or No and 
  36.     click on OK. 
  37.  
  38.  8. When the "Select Network Adapter box appears," 
  39.     click on "Other adapter" at the bottom of the box.
  40.  
  41.  9. Insert the Etherdisk into diskette drive.
  42.  
  43. 10. At the "Network Adapter Driver Disk" box, enter 
  44.     A:\NDIS\OS2 at the "File Location"  box and click 
  45.     on OK.
  46.  
  47. 11. At the "Drivers Found" box, verify that the 3Com 
  48.     Etherlink III PCMCIA OS/2 is highlighted. Otherwise, 
  49.     click on cancel and repeat step 10. Highlight 
  50.     "Ethernet" in the "Type of LAN" box and click on OK.
  51.  
  52. 12. Under the "Select Network Adapter" box, click on Settings.
  53.  
  54. 13. Under the "ISA Network Adapter Software Configuration," 
  55.     highlight the "Network adapter address" line and click 
  56.     on Change.
  57.  
  58. 14. Under the "Modify Parameter" box, type in the network 
  59.     adapter address located on the adapter e.g. 0020AF123456 
  60.     and click on OK.
  61.  
  62. 15. Under the "ISA Network Adapter Software Configuration," 
  63.     click on OK.
  64.  
  65. 16. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.

  69.     OS/2  WARP  CONNECT  WITH  NETWARE  REQUESTER  
  70.  
  71.  
  72.  1. Start the installation of  OS/2 WARP Connect (refer to 
  73.     OS/2 WARP manual).
  74.  
  75.  2. When the  "Networking Support" box appears asking "Do 
  76.     you want to install networking support"  highlight NO 
  77.     and click on OK.
  78.  
  79.  3. After OS/2 is installed, open up an OS/2 window and type 
  80.     "MD NETWARE" <return> at the [C:\] prompt and then type 
  81.     in "CD NETWARE" <return>.
  82.  
  83.  4. Insert the Etherdisk into the floppy drive.     
  84.  
  85.  5. Type in "COPY A:\NETWARE\ODI\3C589.SYS" <return> at the 
  86.         [C:\NETWARE] prompt.
  87.  
  88.  6. Changed drive to the CD Rom drive and type "PRODINST."
  89.  
  90.  7. Highlight Netware under the Utilities box and click on Install.
  91.  
  92.  8. Click on "Installation" under the Netware Workstation for 
  93.     OS/2 Installation Utility box and then click on  "Requester 
  94.     on Workstation..."
  95.  
  96.  9. Choose the default target directory (the default is 
  97.     C:\Netware) and verify that the Source drive is the 
  98.     drive letter of the CD Rom drive and click on OK.
  99.  
  100. 10. Highlight "Edit CONFIG.SYS and Copy All Files..." under 
  101.     the Requester Installation box and click on OK.
  102.  
  103. 11. Type in "3C589.SYS" in the box under the "Choose from 
  104.     the list or type in the drivername:" line. Verify that 
  105.     the "Do NOT upgrade the currently installed LAN driver" 
  106.     line is not highlighted and click on continue. 
  107.  
  108. 12. Highlight On or Off under the "Step 2 - Choose Netware 
  109.     Support for DOS and Windows Application" box and click 
  110.     on Continue.
  111.  
  112. 13. Choose whether to install SPX support or Netbios (refer 
  113.     to the WARP Manual) under the "Step 3 - Choose Optional 
  114.     Protocols" box and click on Save.
  115.  
  116. 14. Verify that "C:\CONFIG.SYS" is entered in the box after 
  117.     the "Save File as:" line in the "Save Changes to CONFIG.SYS" 
  118.     box and click on OK.
  119.  
  120. 15. Click on Copy under the "Copy Requester Files" box.
  121.  
  122. 16. Click on Cancel under the "Copy ODI LAN Driver Files" box.
  123.  
  124. 17. If a there is an existing functional NET.CFG file for 
  125.     the adapter, verify that it is located in the root 
  126.     directory of the hard drive. Shut down the system and
  127.     reboot. 
  128.  
  129.     
  130.     If there is not an existing NET.CFG file in the root 
  131.     directory of the hard drive, click on Configuration 
  132.     under the "Netware Workstation for OS/2 Installation 
  133.     Utility" box and highlight "This workstation..."
  134.  
  135. 18. Verify that "C:\NET.CFG" is entered in the box under 
  136.     the "Default Location for NET.CFG File:" line and click 
  137.     on Edit.
  138.  
  139. 19. The following is a sample NET.CFG file and may not be 
  140.     appropriate for the existing network (refer to the WARP 
  141.     manual or the system network administrator for specific 
  142.     information relevant to the existing network):

  159. 20. Once the appropriate lines for the network are entered 
  160.     under the "Current NET.CFG File Contents" box, click on 
  161.     save and follow the on screen direction.

  165.     OS/2  WARP  CONNECT  WITH  IBM  PEER  FOR  
  166.     OS/2  AND  NETWARE  REQUESTER
  167.  
  168.  
  169.  1. Start the installation OS/2 WARP Connect (refer to 
  170.     OS/2 WARP manual).
  171.  
  172.  2. When the  "Networking Support" box appears asking "Do 
  173.     you want to install networking support,"  highlight 
  174.     YES and click on OK.
  175.  
  176.  3. Highlight "Yes, install OS/2 Peer" under the "IBM 
  177.     Peer for OS/2"  box and click  OK.
  178.  
  179.  4. Type in a unique name and description of the worksation 
  180.     under the "Specify Workstation Name" box and click on OK.
  181.  
  182.  5. Enter the Domain name under the "Domain Name" box (the 
  183.     default is IBMPEERS) and click on OK.
  184.  
  185.  6. Highlight "Yes, install" under the "Novell Netware Client 
  186.     for OS/2" box and click on OK.  
  187.  
  188.  7. Highlight Yes or NO for TCP/IP under the "Internet" box 
  189.     and click on OK.
  190.  
  191.  8. Click on Change adapter under the "Select Network 
  192.     Adapter" box.
  193.  
  194.  9. Click on Other adapter under the "Select Network 
  195.     Adapter" box.
  196.  
  197. 10. Insert the Etherdisk in the floppy drive.
  198.  
  199. 11. Type in "a:\ndis\os2" in the "File Location" box and 
  200.     click on OK.
  201.  
  202. 12. Verify that "3Com Etherlink III PC Card for OS/2" is 
  203.     highlighted under the "Drivers Found" box. Highlight 
  204.     "Ethernet" under the "Type of LAN:" and click on OK 
  205.  
  206. 13. Verify that the "3Com Etherlink III PC Card OS/2" is 
  207.     highlighted under the "Select Network Adapter" box and 
  208.     click on "Settings."   
  209.  
  210. 14. Read the warning message under the "OS/2 Warp Connect 
  211.     Install" box and click on OK.
  212.  
  213. 15. Highlight "Network adapter address" under the "ISA 
  214.     Network Adapter Software Confiuration" box and click 
  215.     on Change.
  216.  
  217. 16. Type in the Ethernet Address located on the adapter 
  218.     e.g.  EA=0020AFXXXXXX and click on OK.
  219.  
  220. 17. Click on OK under the "ISA Network Adapter Software 
  221.     Configuration" box.
  222.  
  223. 18. Click on OK under the "Ready to Install" box.
  224.  
  225. 19. OS/2 will install all the necessary files and then 
  226.     reboot the system. Once the system reboots, OS/2 will 
  227.     finish the installation.
